TMS Therapy in Marietta, Georgia

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment for major depressive disorder. It may be an option when depression hasn’t improved with standard treatments.

What Is TMS?

TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) uses focused magnetic pulses—similar in type of energy to what’s used in MRI—to stimulate specific brain circuits involved in depression. Treatment is performed in-office while you’re awake and alert. TMS is non-drug and non-invasive, and it does not require sedation. Most patients return to normal activities immediately after a session.
Non-invasive, outpatient treatment (no surgery, no sedation)
No systemic medication side effects (because it’s non-systemic)
You can drive yourself home after sessions

Is TMS Right for You?

TMS is commonly considered for adults with major depressive disorder who haven’t had adequate improvement with antidepressant treatment, or who can’t tolerate medication side effects. A consultation helps determine whether it’s an appropriate option for your clinical situation.

Are you currently taking medication for depression?

Are you still depressed despite treatment?

Have you switched medications more than once due to side effects?

Are symptoms interfering with work, relationships, or daily functioning?

Not a fit for everyone: TMS is contraindicated for some people, including those with certain non-removable metal or implanted stimulation devices in or near the head (examples include cochlear implants, deep brain stimulators, vagus nerve stimulators). We screen for this in consultation.
